The possible victory of the ruling coalition in the elections of Kyrgyzstan – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, citing Al Jazeera, voting in the early parliamentary elections of Kyrgyzstan started today (Sunday) in a situation where it is expected that the allies of President Sadir Japarov will win a decisive victory.
Al Jazeera claimed that there is no official party or organized opposition in the race, and the result will further consolidate Japarov’s power.
Since 2020, Japarov, a Kyrgyz nationalist politician, has gained significant control over the country’s government structures. Three times—in 2005, 2010, and 2020—Kyrgyz presidents were toppled by street protests over alleged election fraud.
The massive victory of Japarov’s allies can pave the way for the 2027 presidential elections; An election in which he will probably seek victory in the second round.
In September, the country’s parliament, which was supposed to continue working until November 2026, was dissolved by a vote of the representatives and the decision was made to hold early elections.
Kyrgyzstan’s economic growth has helped strengthen Japarov’s position among the people.
On the eve of the elections, Japarov has further strengthened relations with Russia, and last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Bishkek for official talks, and his pictures were installed on billboards in the city.
Polling stations across Kyrgyzstan opened at 8:00 a.m. local time (02:00 GMT) on Sunday.
According to the report of the Central Election Commission, 4 million and 294 thousand people are registered in the voter list of this country. Also, 2,492 polling stations inside the country and 100 polling stations in 89 cities in 34 countries are active to receive the votes of citizens living abroad.
