American senators demanded Rubio’s investigation io the violations of the Zionist regime in Gaza
Several Democratic senators have asked US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to quickly start an investigation io a secret governme report on “hundreds of possible human rights violations by the Israeli army in Gaza”.
According to RCO News Agency, Senators “Chris Van Hollen” from Maryland and “Jack Reed” from Rhode Island have led this request and have warned in a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the delay in investigating cases of murder, torture and abuse in Gaza weakens the laws prohibiting American security assistance to foreign military units accused of such violations. Nine other Democratic senators have also signed the petition.
“Without effective enforceme mechanisms, these laws and policies become meaningless,” the Washington Post reported.
The said confideial report was prepared by the Office of the Inspector General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and shows that the volume of files related to the Zionist military units is so large that their complete investigation may take years.
“In light of these findings, we urge you to promptly impleme the Inspector General’s recommendations and review these cases in a timely manner to ensure compliance with United States law,” the senators wrote to Rubio.
A foreign ministry official said in response to this letter: “The ministry is aware of its legal obligations and fulfills them.” The Israeli army did not respond to a request for comme.
The confideial report also explains what the protocol is for investigating suspected human rights abuses by foreign militaries, and emphasizes that this process gives Israel a structural advaage over other couries.
Democratic senators wrote that the special process would “require more bureaucratic deliberation and allow reviews to take forever.”
Although this letter was written by Democrats, American conservatives have also recely pressured the White House to review Washington’s relations with the Zionist regime.
