Reuters: Europe proposed changes to Trump’s peace plan
British media reported that European officials have preseed a revised version of the US peace plan for Ukraine that postpones some of its provisions.
According to RCO News Agency, so far the American and Ukrainian sides have shown a positive reaction to the negotiations, and both sides have emphasized that “good progress” has been achieved in the Geneva negotiations.
According to a docume seen by Reuters on Sunday evening, Europeans have preseed a revised version of US Preside Donald Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine that postpones proposed limits on armed forces and territorial concessions to Kiev.
The docume states: “The number of Ukrainian military forces in peacetime should be limited to 800,000 people, not 600,000 people as proposed by the US plan.”
The docume also states: “Negotiations on territorial exchanges will start from the coact line, not pre-determining that certain areas should be recognized as “de facto Russia”; As the US plan suggests.”
A source familiar with the matter told the docume: “The couer-offer was drawn up by European powers Britain, France and Germany. “Also, the docume takes the US proposal as a baseline, but moves forward step by step with suggested deletions or changes.”
“Ukraine should receive a security guaraee from the United States similar to Article 5 of NATO, and also rejects the U.S. proposal to use blocked Russian assets in the West, mainly in the European Union,” the docume stressed.
