The Guardian: The Secretary of the US Army will be Trump’s special representative on Ukraine
British media reported that the American president appointed the country’s army minister as his new special representative in Ukraine.
According to Isna, it was announced last week that “Keith Klug”, the special representative of the US President “Donald Trump” on Russia-Ukraine affairs, plans to resign in January.
The “Guardian” newspaper wrote about this: “The President of the United States appointed Dan Driscoll, who is now the Secretary of the Army, as his new special representative to Ukraine.”
After speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and receiving a phone call from the White House, Dan Driscoll briefed the ambassadors of NATO member countries on Donald Trump’s 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine late Friday during a meeting in Kiev, and according to one of the attendees, the American official told them: “No agreement is perfect, but it should be done as soon as possible.”
The Reuters News agency previously reported on Kate Klug’s resignation: “With the 81-year-old Klug’s departure from the Trump administration, Kiev will lose one of its key allies in the White House.”
The position of the President’s special representative for Russia-Ukraine affairs is temporary and must be approved by the US Senate to continue working for more than 360 days. According to this legal restriction, Klug has considered January as the right time for his resignation.
