The participation of the American B-52 bomber in the Mauritanian air exercise
The US Embassy in Mauritania announced the participation of a US Army B-52 bomber in the exercise of the Mauritanian Air Force.
According to Isna, the US Embassy in Mauritania announced in a statement: “On November 19, US Air Support Forces and Mauritanian Air Force officers conducted an air-ground integration exercise with the presence of a B-52 Stratofortress bomber from the US Bomber Task Force.”
The Anadolu News agency quoted the embassy as saying that Mauritanian officers “worked together with their American counterparts to practice close air support operations, increase joint readiness and regional stability.”
US Africa Command (AFRICOM) Director of Operations Justin Hoffman said: “This exercise demonstrates the command’s firm commitment to building strong partnerships and promoting stability in the region.”
He further added: “Such trainings are not only related to building capacity; Rather, it is about ensuring interoperability with our partners in a complex security environment and demonstrating the strength necessary to prevent threats and defend our common interests.”
The United States considers Mauritania a key partner in its efforts to counter terrorism in the region, and military training forms the main pillar of cooperation between the two countries.
