The share of blocks that are created following US sanctions in the Ethereum network has recely increased to 73%. If the growth of this rate coinues like this, the dominance of services that censor transactions in the network of this digital currency can be a factor influencing the nature of the Ethereum blockchain.
According to Coielegraph, the application of censorship at the protocol level is a negative factor in the way of the cryptocurrency ecosystem to achieve open and accessible financial services. For this reason, the digital currency community has been monitoring the growth of the Ethereum network’s compliance with US economic sanctions for some time.
According to the statistics available on the website mevwatch.info, in the last 24 hours, 73% of Ethereum network blocks were created using services that comply with US sanctions.
At the end of October, a report regarding the increase in the share of blocks complia with US sanctions to 51% was published on the website of Erzdigital. Now, this rate has reached 73% in a relatively short period of time.
The services meioned first are called “MEV-Boost relays” and those that follow US sanctions censor certain transactions (such as transactions related to Tornado Cash Mixer) in their activities. Therefore, Ethereum needs services that do not give in to censorship to maiain neutrality in the network.
Ethereum validators have the option to exclude services that censor transactions from configuring their MEV-Boosts, thereby reducing US sanctions compliance on the network.
According to the website mevwatch.info, services that do not currely censor transactions include:
- BloXroute Max Profit
- BloxRoute Ethical
- Manifold
- Relayooor
The dominance of censorship services on the network allows the US governme to impose its economic and commercial sanctions on this blockchain. It should be noted that the Office of Foreign Investme Corol of the United States had previously sanctioned the Tornado Cash Ethereum mixer (Tornado Cash) and several wallet addresses.
Let’s also add that since the implemeation of Marj’s update on the Ethereum network, 45% of the total blocks of the network have been created in compliance with US sanctions.
