Grossi: Efforts are continuing for full return of verification with Tehran – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, the quarterly meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency began on Wednesday, November 28. This meeting will continue until Friday, November 30, and various issues are on the agenda of this meeting.
Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said in his statement at the beginning of this meeting: “Efforts and consultations with Iran are continuing to restore normal inspection operations in this country.”
Noting that I believe progress has been made and acknowledging that we have returned to Iran, Grossi stated: We have conducted more than 12 inspections to date.
The director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency stated: The inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency have returned to Iran and have carried out inspections and verification of design information in many facilities that were not affected by the June military attacks.
Grossi stated: We are still in regular contact with Tehran and we continue our efforts to fully return to normal verification activities.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency also emphasized: More engagement is needed to resume full inspections, including at damaged sites, so that Iran fulfills its obligations under the NPT Agreement.
He said: I am in regular contact with Tehran and I ask Iran to facilitate the Agency’s access to its damaged facilities, especially the inventory of low-enriched uranium (LEU) and high-enriched uranium (HEU), whose situation requires immediate attention.
He stated: Since the signing of the agreement in Cairo, Iran has facilitated access to the agency for inspections and verification of design information, with prior notice, in almost all undamaged facilities in Tehran; This is welcome.
Noting that the IAEA has yet to receive a report from Iran on damaged facilities and related nuclear material, which must be provided without delay in accordance with its obligations under the Safeguards Agreement, Grossi claimed: To date, the IAEA has not conducted verification activities at any of Iran’s nuclear facilities that have been affected by military strikes; Although I appreciate Iran’s cooperation in inspections at a number of facilities, more constructive engagement is needed.
He said: I want Iran to facilitate the full and effective implementation of safeguards activities in accordance with the NPT safeguards agreement, and I again declare my readiness to cooperate with Iran in this field.
Omdei-Shad: As I have said before, determining the current status of low-enriched and high-enriched uranium in Iran should be investigated immediately.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency claimed: The agency’s lack of access to these nuclear materials in Iran for 5 months means that the approval of these materials – according to standard safeguard procedures – has been delayed for a long time and it is very important that the agency can approve these materials as soon as possible.
Grossi said: We will be able to provide detailed reports on Iran’s nuclear facilities. We have not succeeded in visiting the attacked nuclear facilities of Iran and we hope that this will be achieved soon. Iran made a wise decision by staying in the NPT.
He claimed: Some people say that we give information to Israel and this is not true. Iran is not fulfilling its obligations and duties according to the NPT. Iran’s enriched uranium reserves still exist.
He said: We expect our cooperation with Iran to continue. The gap created between the Agency and Iran has not been resolved.
