Kremlin: No official from Russia will participate in the talks in Istanbul
The spokesman of the Kremlin announced today (Tuesday) that Russia will not send any official to participate in the talks held in Istanbul on Wednesday.
According to RCO News Agency, while the News of the visit of US special represeative Steve Witkoff and Ukrainian Preside Volodymyr Zelensky to Turkey has been published, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “Moscow is not sending any official to these talks and has not received any information from Ukraine about the desire to resume negotiations.”
According to the Rianavosti news agency, he said in another part of his speech that Russia’s position is well known to the United States, Turkey and Ukraine, and that Russia is still open to dialogue.
The Kremlin spokesman also added that Russian Preside Vladimir Putin is open to reports from Turkish officials about the Istanbul meetings, if necessary, although there are currely no specific plans.
Referring to the revelation of widespread corruption in Kyiv, he added that Europeans are rightly concerned about the financing of Ukraine, because it is clear that a large part of these funds will be embezzled, especially after the rece corruption scandals in this coury.
The official in the Kremlin also coinued, Putin will meet with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and heads of governme delegations of the member couries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for basic negotiations.
Peskov said: If the US special envoy Steve Witkoff or Turkish governme officials consider it necessary to inform Putin about the meetings in Istanbul, he is ready to talk. Of course, there are still no definite plans for Putin’s coacts with Vitkaf or Turkish officials.
Dimitri Peskov coinued: “The European Union has the right to be concerned about financing for Ukraine, especially after the corruption scandal in Ukraine and embezzleme in this coury, this concern has increased even more.”
