Nebenzia: Iernational forces in Gaza may become a side of the conflict
The Permane Represeative of Russia to the United Nations said that his coury chose not to prese the amended draft of the Gaza Peace Plan in the Security Council, saying that the UN stabilization forces in the Gaza Strip may become a party to the conflict.
According to Isna, Russia’s Permane Represeative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, said that the UN stabilization forces in the Gaza Strip will have mandatory peacekeeping duties, which may make them a party to the conflict.
On Monday, the UN Security Council passed a resolution on the US peace plan for the Gaza Strip, which includes the creation of stabilization forces. Thirteen council members voted in favor of the docume, while Russia and China abstained.
“This resolution gives the mission binding peacekeeping duties that may turn it io a party to the conflict,” Nebenzia told the Security Council meeting.
Vasily Nebenzia also said that the implemeation of US Preside Donald Trump’s plan in Gaza is eirely up to its authors and supporters.
“This is a case where we would like to err and expect the United States to really demonstrate its peacekeeping poteial, which can be assessed by how well it can guaraee a lasting peace, a peace in which Israel and Palestine coexist in peace and security on the 1967 borders and Jerusalem in accordance with UN Security Council and UN General Assembly resolutions, iernational law and previous agreemes,” Nebenzia told a UN Security Council meeting. which fulfills both the ierests of the Israelis in guaraeeing their security and the right of the Palestinians to have their own coury, to become the capital of both. “Now, the implemeation of Preside Donald Trump’s plan is eirely up to its authors and supporters, primarily from eight Arab-Muslim couries.”
Russia’s permane represeative also said that Russia refused to submit its draft resolution on Gaza to the UN Security Council.
“Russia has taken note of Ramallah’s position, as well as many Arab Muslim couries that have supported the US draft, to preve further bloodshed in the region,” Nebenzia said. “In this regard, we have decided not to prese our own draft that would have amended the US plan to align with the agreed UN resolutions.”
The Permane Mission of Russia to the United Nations announced that the purpose of this draft is to modify the American plan to make it more compatible with the agreed resolutions of the United Nations. The delegation’s stateme separately emphasized that the Russian docume does not conflict with the American initiative.
Commeing on the US-sponsored Security Council resolution on the Gaza Strip, Vasily Nebenzia said today was a “sad day for the council”.
“But there is no reason to celebrate,” Nebenzia told a UN Security Council meeting on Monday. Today is a sad day for the council. Beyond the demands of the ierested parties, the concept of the iegrity of the Security Council is also discussed. And today, with the approval of this resolution, that iegrity and special right of the Council was violated.”
According to RIA Novosti, he also added that the most importa thing is that this docume does not become a cover for “experimes of the United States and Israel” and does not become a death seence for the two-state solution.
