Hossein Morteza: Iran’s position is to support Lebanon/ every ground battle is in favor of Hezbollah

“Hossein Morteza”, a Lebanese journalist and expert, stated in an interview with ISNA about the developments surrounding this country: Israelis have never stopped their aggression against Lebanon since the announcement of a ceasefire about a year ago. To date, the Israelis have not adhered to any of the terms of the agreement, unlike Hezbollah, which has admittedly not violated it in any way.

He pointed out that “Hezbollah handed over the responsibility of dealing with these aggressions to the Lebanese government, but unfortunately it has not achieved anything so far”, he said: “Recently, daily attacks ranging from terror to bombing houses and preventing residents from returning to their villages have increased significantly and this coincides with two important events.”

America is not the mediator but the leader of the aggressors

In this regard, the Lebanese political analyst added: First, Israel’s announcement that all these attacks are carried out with the green light of America and with its coordination, and that even American officers in Safed are monitoring these operations, means that this aggression is not Israeli, but American, and America is not a mediator, but is in charge of leading this aggression.

He added: Second, the public entry of the American embassy and the declaration of war with Hezbollah in Lebanon shows the military and economic pressures and the siege against the Lebanese people in the service of the American project and the Israeli regime.

Massive aggression or ground operations are not expected

The Lebanese expert explained: In the analysis and reading of these developments, it should be said that the gradual escalation of attacks and assassinations is aimed at increasing the pressure and provoking Hezbollah to react, in order to exploit this matter under the pretext that Hezbollah still has weapons.

At the same time, he stressed, I do not expect large-scale aggression or ground operations, because this may change many equations and its results, especially in the ground arena, are unknown. Because last year, the Israelis attempted a ground attack and suffered heavy losses without achieving any significant gains. At the same time, we know that every ground battle is practically in Hezbollah’s favor; As they say, this land is their home. Therefore, they will continue to apply pressure through fire, bombing, and terror to force Hezbollah to back down, and that will not happen.

Iran’s position is to support the government and people of Lebanon

Regarding his assessment of Iran’s approach to Hezbollah, the Lebanese analyst said: Iran’s position is clear; It supports any option that the Lebanese people choose and agree on inside Lebanon. Iran does not interfere in the details, but in all the visits of Iranian officials to Lebanon, the position has always been clear and that is to support the Lebanese government and people.

He emphasized: This war has clear goals; Either the Shiites surrender to the American project or the residents of the villages and towns are displaced.

The Lebanese political analyst also clarified: Tehran’s point of view is in support of Hezbollah’s option, because Iran feels that there is an existential threat against the structure of Lebanon, especially for the Lebanese Shiites.

Referring to Iran’s support for Lebanon, the Lebanese expert said: Since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, Iran has stood by us as a people whose land is occupied, just as it has stood by the Palestinian people. Therefore, Tehran believes that the target in Lebanon is the heart of the resistance. Therefore, it is natural for Iran to stand by this resistance and its people and reject the policy of isolation that some even at the regional level are trying to implement against us in Lebanon.
