Criticism of the Republican represeative of Trump’s meeting with the ierim preside of Syria

“Margery Taylor Green”, a Republican represeative of the state of Georgia, on Monday criticized the Preside of the United States, Donald Trump, for hosting the ierim preside of Syria, Ahmed al-Shara, in the White House.
According to Isna, Green wrote in a post on the X social network: “I really like that White House meetings are constaly about domestic politics, not foreign policy and leaders of foreign couries.”
A staunch supporter of Trump, he has repeatedly coradicted his Republican Party’s positions in rece mohs – including the party’s failure to come up with an alternative plan to subsidize the universal insurance plan.
Green has also criticized some aspects of the Trump administration’s foreign policy, asking him to focus on domestic issues and an “America First” approach.
Ahmad al-Shara’s meeting with Trump took place at noon on Monday Washington time. This is the first visit of a Syrian leader to the White House in the history of relations between the two couries. Last week, Trump canceled the Islamic terrorist label.
Trump has asked Congress to lift all sanctions on Syria, but some Republicans are against the complete lifting of sanctions and have called for monitoring the performance of the Syrian governme in terms of “responsible governance”.
In his post, Green questioned the meeting and poied to the “persecution of Christians in Syria”: “The new preside of Syria is a former al-Qaeda terrorist who is meeting with Preside Trump at the White House today on the 200th anniversary of the formation of the US Marine Corps.”
He added: “He came to power in December 2024, the sanctions were lifted in June, and since then, many Christians and minorities have been killed in Syria.”
The White House has not yet commeed on these criticisms.
