Golan 3 drone over the Belgian nuclear power plant
This is the latest in a series of recent drone-related attacks in Belgium, with three drones spotted over the Duelle nuclear power plant in northern Belgium.
According to RCO News Agency, on Sunday evening, three drones were seen above a nuclear power plant in northern Belgium, but the operation at the power plant, which is located near the city of “Antwerp”, was not affected.
However, operations at Liège airport in eastern Belgium were temporarily suspended on Sunday evening due to the sighting of another drone.
The attacks are the latest in a series of drone flights seen over key Belgian infrastructure, including airports and military bases, in recent weeks. Some European officials claim that these incidents are related to Russia’s so-called “hybrid warfare”.
Belgian Defense Minister Theo Franken said the earlier sightings appeared to be part of an espionage operation. He then linked these incidents to recent Russian attacks on the airspace of other European countries.
According to TPV World, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius pointed out that there is a connection between the previous drone incidents in Belgium and discussions about the use of frozen Russian assets to finance a huge loan to Ukraine held by the Belgian financial institution Euroclear.
Russia has denied any connection with this issue.
