According to the news agency stamp quoted from Gulf Online, last night’s meeting of the United Nations Security Council to review the situation and developmes in the city Al Fasher Sudan and the wave of killings in this city, witnessed a war of words and a heated diplomatic confroation between “Mohammed Abu Shahab“, the represeative of the UAE in the United Nations and “Harith Idris was the represeative of Khartoum in this council and both sides directly accused each other of being responsible for the coinuation of the war in Sudan and supporting the conflicting parties.
The represeative of Sudan clearly accused Abu Dhabi of playing an ominous and destructive role in providing arms and financial support to the rapid support forces, and called for the coury’s ierveion to stop. On the other hand, the represeative of the United Arab Emirates also categorically rejected these accusations, calling both sides involved in Sudan lacking political and moral legitimacy and considering them to be the main cause of the curre humanitarian disaster.
This source added: The verbal conflict started when the represeative of the UAE made unprecedeed criticisms towards the warring parties in Sudan and said: The armed forces of Sudan and the rapid support forces have deprived themselves of any role in the future of the coury by eering io a devastating war that has claimed thousands of lives.
Abu Shahab said: Since the beginning of the war, the UAE has cooperated with its regional and iernational partners to support humanitarian and political efforts to stop the bloodshed, and it is a shame that the UAE, as a coury that has opened its hospitals, warehouses and airports to receive the wounded and displaced, is accused of being a party to this conflict.
This was while Harith Idris, the represeative of Sudan, strongly ierrupted the words of the represeative of the UAE and said: This is not true, you are the ones who feed the war with weapons and money, you are the ones who send drones to bomb civilians in Darfur.
He added: “I preseed dozens of documes to the Security Council, which are proof of the UAE’s involveme in the UAE’s armed and military support for the rapid support forces and the financial support of foreign mercenaries in Sudan.”
The tension rose when Idris said to Abu Shahab: Your place is not in the seat of the Security Council, but among the militias supported by you. Rapid support forces steal gold from Sudan and send it to the UAE; where today the mercha of war is in Sudan.
In response, the UAE represeative said: These claims are dangerous and false. It is unfortunate that some exploit the United Nations to justify iernal failure and relate iernal problems to external ones.
Both represeatives stormed out of the meeting, leading to one of the most tense Security Council meetings.
