Venezuela warned Trinidad and Tobago about cooperation with the United States – Mehr News Agency RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr news agency, quoted by the Associated Press, Venezuela’s vice preside and oil minister, Delsey Rodriguez, said in a televised speech: “The Prime Minister of Trinidad has decided to join the warmongering agenda of the United States.”
He added that he will ask Venezuelan Preside Nicolás Maduro to withdraw from the 2015 agreeme between the two couries for the joi exploration of natural gas resources in the border waters. These two couries are separated from each other only by a narrow gulf about 11 km wide.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Prasad-Bissar, said in a written response to the Associated Press that he is not worried about the possibility of canceling these agreemes, and added that the rece military exercises are conducted solely with the aim of strengthening iernal security.
He wrote: Our future does not depend on Venezuela and never has. We follow our plans and plans for economic growth in the energy and non-energy sectors.
Caracas’ decision came after a US guided-missile destroyer, the USS Gravely, eered a port in Trinidad on Sunday for a joi exercise with the coury’s navy.
Tensions between Venezuela and the United States have escalated since last week, when the Trump administration announced it would send its largest aircraft carrier to the southern Caribbean to join a fleet of eight warships, a submarine, several drones and fighters stationed in the region.
According to American sources, since September, the Trump administration has carried out 10 attacks against boats suspected of drug trafficking in this area, during which at least 43 people have been killed.
