The “Mosque of Noor” or the “Muhammad Abdul Khaleq Qarashsh” mosque is an amazing example of light and geometry interaction. The mosque is one of the first mosques designed by a female architect.
Designing a place of worship is always accompanied by certain challenges; Because its architecture must evoke a sense of faith and belief to man. This item was accompanied by a greater challenge; Because it was the first experience to be performed by a female architect. Somayeh Dabagh, one of the few Saudi female architects in this generation, has previously designed numerous buildings in the Persian Gulf and has won prizes.

The tanning approach in design focused on the experience of worship and the path the worshipers followed before prayer. The lattice elements in the building’s facades create a arch of the day’s light that welcomes them upon the arrival of worshipers. Change of light conditions also form part of the preparation process for worship; When worshipers take their shoes and do rituals.
Considering what is needed from a ritual and relaxation act, and the fact that Muslims pray several times throughout the day, it was necessary to provide spaces for transition and preparation. This goal has been achieved through the form, selection of materials and controlled use of natural light.
Upon arrival in the bed, there is an additional transition area that may be performed before the prayer. Usually in Dubai, five times a day, during the morning, noon, evening, Maghreb and Esha prayers. Before every turn, it is necessary for worshipers to distance themselves from the outside world and gain inner peace. Tanni was looking for the same purpose; In his view, the experience created by the design of the mosque seeks to reinforce human relationship with the natural day and night’s rhythm through the controlled entry of natural light.

Given the large size of the building, the mosque was designed in two parts, including a main bed and a residential service block. The two blocks are separated from one courtyard, covered with lattice metal shade that protect the overwhelming heat, severe sunlight and direct light.
The volume triangles mounted on the facade and the ceiling reflect the natural sunlight. The triangular pattern seen throughout the building also refers to Islamic geometry.
Calligraphy also plays an important role, and a verse of the Qur’an has become calligraphy on the exterior and around the bed. The main nave is directed towards Mecca, and the ground floor has the space of prayer for men and women. The minaret tower was also designed to draw attention to the importance of the mosque; An approach that differs from most conventional designs for the mosque and minaret.
