Qasr al -hosn, also known as the White Castle, is the oldest and most well -known building of Abu Dhabi. The castle is more than 5 years old and is still a symbol of the Emirates cultural heritage and heritage in the heart of the city. Its construction dates back to the late eighteeh ceury; It was built in the form of a watchtower to protect the island’s only freshwater well. Soon, the tower became a solid fortress and its thick walls were made of coral and sea stones; Walls that guaraeed city security and access to commercial routes and water resources.
The “Palace of al -Hassan” has been repeatedly developed and added to its strength. The castle was then built io a ceer of political power and a space for parliame next to the northern tower so that the rulers could have a more direct relationship with the people. For nearly two ceuries, the castle was the residence of the Al Nahyan dynasty and the Abu Dhabi political ceer. After the formation of the United Arab Emirates in the year 9, with the rapid developme of the city, its function changed and became a ceer for documes and was built alongside the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation.
After a 5 -year conservation and restoration project in the year 6, the palace of al -Hassan was opened. While preserving historical autheicity, this reconstruction made the building a dynamic museum and a cultural ceer that today narrates Abu Dhabi’s path from a small settleme to a modern capital.
