Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a meeting with Venezuelan couerparts on the sidelines of the UN meetings, stressed that Moscow is firmly opposed to the use of independe couries, according to Mehr News Agency.

“We strongly disagree to use force against independe couries as a lever in foreign policy,” he said. We declare solidarity with Venezuelan officials against increasing foreign threats and efforts to iervene in its iernal affairs.

Lavrov emphasized Russia’s full support for Caracas’s efforts to protect its national sovereigy. It should be noted that recely NBC News quoted four informed sources, including four US officials, reporting that the coury is preparing for attacks against Venezuela.

According to the report, poteial US attacks against Venezuela are carried out on the pretext of combating drug traffickers.

Informed sources added that the attacks will probably begin in the coming weeks.

Earlier, Venezuelan Preside Nicholas Maduro announced that popular forces across the coury had been deployed to confro any threat from US invaders.
