Lake Urmia was once known as the largest saltwater lake in the Middle East and shining like a blue jewel in northwestern Iran, now completely dry and disappeared from satellite maps.

For years, experts and environmentalists have warned of the land and its consequences, but no effective operational plans were even implemented to slow down the process.

Today, Lake Urmia has become a salt plain that is a serious threat to the ecosystem, public health and the region’s economy. This crisis, which has reached its peak this year; With the arrival of the autumn season, the saltwater is also coming.

Natural winds and storms gradually create new crises for the people of the region. New videos from Zanbil Mountain and Shahid Kalantari Bridge show that with the complete drying up of Lake Urmia, living conditions have become more difficult for the residents of the area and engage in salt storms.

Climate change and complete drying of the lake, which, of course, has played an important role in human factors such as water resources mismanagement, unnecessary dam construction and unstable agricultural pattern; Lake Urmia has reached a critical situation.
