Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov, referring to the third round of talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, said Moscow did not expect significant progress in this round of negotiations.
Peskov said of the high level of visual visibility between Russia and Ukraine: It will be possible to talk about a meeting between Russia and Ukraine at the highest level after the basic work.
He also added that talking about humanitarian issues in the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and Russia’s proposal to create three working groups is a positive trend.
The Russian diplomat stressed that “the Russian army is doing its best to build a restricted areas on the border with Ukraine.”
Referring to Ukraine’s permanent requests to receive weapons, he said, “Kiev has to constantly beg the West.”
Peskov also emphasized speculation about the possible visit to Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, respectively, in China, respectively, that “there was no clear talk about Putin and Trump’s possible visit to China, and the Kremlin is not aware of US presidential plans to travel to China.”
According to him, the call between Moscow and Washington can be quickly planned if necessary.
