A group of Iranian archaeologists in one -moh surveys and excavations in the area of “Gore infidel” in Yazd province ideified four graves in a range of nearly 1,000 hectares, with more than 2 % of these graves being destroyed in unauthorized excavations. Archaeologists attribute these graves to the Parthian period, in some of which are found in burial objects.
The iensive survey and speculation project was conducted in the area of Kafir Kavijan, Bahabad city, Yazd province with the financial support of the Bahabad Municipality and the License of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Research Institute. Archaeological speculation was the same as Israel’s six -day war with Iran, which coinued without ierruption during this period.
Mohammad Hossein Azizi Kharanghi, a member of the faculty and research deputy of the Institute of Archeology, who was the head of the excavation in the area, said:
During the six -day imposed war, the project was carried out despite the extensive pressure on the group members, with concerns about the eves ahead and without any delays or detainees.
The archaeologist we on to say:
Yazd province is one of the most unknown provinces in the coury in terms of archaeological studies and there is a very small and published information of the province’s cultural -historical period. The reason for this is perhaps the extraordinary richness of Yazd’s historical textures and monumes, which has attracted all atteion and credibility. However, the lack of publication of archaeological research achievemes in the province could also be one of the causes of the authorities’ neglect of conducting such studies in the province.
Azizi Kharanghi added:
The city of Bahabad is no exception, and there is almost no knowledge of the cultural -historical sequence of human secrets in this city. Unfortunately, the least archaeological studies were also dedicated to Yazd province, and the lack of archaeological studies in Yazd province lead to a lack of basic and basic understanding of the cultural and historical characteristics of this province. However, the city of Bahabad is in the east of Yazd province and is in line with the provinces of Kerman and South Khorasan, and the mines, agriculture and livestock of this city are among its strengths. About 2 meters above sea level in Bahabad city, 2 meters above Yazd, leads to a more favorable climate than the surroundings, including Bafq and Yazd, and trees such as Benn and peanuts grow at its heights.
The deputy director of the Institute of Archeology stated:
In one -moh -old survey and iensive archaeological studies in the infidel grave area, 2 tombs were ideified in a range of nearly 1,000 hectares. This volume of congestion in this exte has made the grave of the Kojan infidel a unique cemetery site, but unfortunately it has been excavated for more than four decades and more than 5 % of its graves have been destroyed. Despite the repeated and repeated follow -up of culture and local officials, due to the lack of knowledge and understanding of the expertise of the performance and importance of this index site, Grave Kafari was never listed in the Iranian National Monumes List, which resulted in the iensification of unauthorized excavations in the site.
