Pentagon chief: peace is time with Russia, not war with military assistance
According to the US Secretary of Defense, the White House will reduce the military budget allocated to Ukraine, as the Donald Trump administration is looking for a peaceful solution to end the conflict.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegst made the remarks on Tuesday against the US House Budget Allocation Committee.
Responding to a question about the upcoming military aid budget to Ukraine, Hegst said, “Yes, this budget has declined.”
“This government has a very different view of it,” he said.
US President Donald Trump has been trying to end the Ukrainian conflict and has diplomatically interacted with Russia.
Since Trump came to power in January, Moscow and Kiev have begun direct talks for the first time since Ukraine unilaterally out of Istanbul’s initial negotiations.
“A peaceful agreement through negotiation is both in the interest of both parties and in the interest of our national interests, especially given the existing world championships,” Hegst said.
The Trump administration has also emphasized the slogan “First America” and significantly reduced foreign aid – including assistance to Ukraine – and promised to spend these funds on domestic issues.
Last week, US Vice President Judd Venus repeated Trump’s critical remarks from the former Joe Biden government and accused his government of “spending crazy sums”.
“They sent $ 5 billion to Ukraine without trying to reach a diplomatic solution,” he said.
In April, Trump signed a big deal with Kiev that allows the US to prioritize access to Ukraine’s mineral resources; An agreement he described as a way to “restore” the hundreds of billions of dollars spent by the Biden government.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelksky has repeatedly complained about the constant shortage of US air defense systems and the reduction of Washington’s aid.
According to the Ukrainian leader, on Sunday, the Trump administration has transported about 6,000 anti -anti -Keil missiles, which was intended for Kiev during the Biden era.
