British lawmakers call on Starmer to boycott Zionist regime
Dozens of British parliamentarians in a letter to the prime minister called for sanctions that the Zionist regime violates international law.
A group of four British parliamentarians in their letter to Prime Minister Kerry Starmer expressed their deep concern over cruel violence against the Palestinians and called on the London government to suspend British trade and participation.
The letter said: We express our deep concern about the cruel violence against Palestinians throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, and we urge Britain to respond to Israel’s widespread and systematic violations of international law.
In their letter, they called for targeted sanctions, banning trade with illegal Zionist settlements, and suspending a trade agreement between the two sides.
Referring to the intensification of Zionist settlers’ violence against the Palestinians in the West Bank, the letter warns that “British recent decisions to boycott immigration organizations on human rights violations are not enough.”
The letter also states that Britain is at risk of complicity by the Zionist regime because of the continued diplomatic and economic interactions and relations with Zionist settlements and organizations.
The signatories of the letter called on the London government to “go beyond the sanctions of the settlers and to boycott cabinet officials, including ministers, and to impose sanctions on the Tel Aviv cabinet.”
Members of the British Parliament continued their letter that Britain should also implement a complete ban on trade with Zionist settlements in the West Bank and Eastern Quds. “Such a move is mandatory based on the decisions of the International Court of Justice and the United Nations, which is a member of the United Kingdom, and both institutions have clearly defined the settlement in the occupied territories illegally.”
The signatories of the letter, pointing out that the British and Tel Aviv trade agreement and Tel Aviv emphasized respect for human rights as a “essential element”, noted that London should also suspend the deal.
The letter states that the Zionist regime’s violation of this clause means that the British has the legal right to suspend or terminate its provisions in full or partially.
“The letter shows that there is a growing parliamentary support for the UK to take more strict measures against Israel,” said Joseph Wilitz, head of parliamentary affairs for the Arab-Golistan Council.
“While the Palestinians are faced with violent elimination, including genocide, hunger and ethnic cleansing, the British government is simply not working enough, and the increasing number of MPs has come to this understanding,” he said.
