US Senators meet with Ukrainian Preside in Kiev

Two US senators called for more severe sanctions against Russia during a meeting with the Ukrainian preside.
While there is uncertaiy about the next round of Ukrainian peace talks in the coming days, Republican Senator Lindsi Graham from South Carolina and Democratic Senator Richard Bluemaeal on Friday with Preside Walodimir Zelnski and other officials.
Their meeting came just days after Russia began its biggest air strike against Ukraine since the United States’s pressure on Moscow to end the conflict since the start of the war in February.
According to a stateme issued by the Ukrainian Presideial Office, there were issues in question, curre peace talks and the proposed law to tighten US sanctions against Russia.
Graham and Bluomatal support a bilateral plan to impose further sanctions against Russia – an idea that has been supported by a number of Republican lawmakers in rece weeks with Moscow air strikes.
According to Reuters, Graham said lawmakers will vote for the plan next week, which will be supported by four senators, and will impose a 5 % tariff on imported goods from couries that buy oil, gas, uranium and other Russian products.
The plan must be approved by both the Senate and the MPs, as well as by US Preside Donald Trump to become law.
Trump has so far refused to negotiate a peace agreeme between Moscow and Kiev to impose further sanctions. However, in the past, he had threatened to take these actions if Russia did not agree with the ceasefire.
In response to a question from reporters on Friday, he replied: “I don’t know, I have to see it.” I look at it.
The meeting came as Ukrainian officials have raised doubts about the planned peace talks in Istanbul on Monday, as Russia has not yet se its negotiations, which is one of Kiev’s key demands.
Zelnsky said Friday after hosting the Turkish Foreign Minister, accusing Russia of “hiding” his peace agreeme from both couries, “We have no information about the so -called Russian note in Ukraine nor Turkey as a host of negotiations.”
Officials say Ukraine has provided a copy of the peace agreeme.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that Moscow will submit a proposed agreeme in the next round of talks.
