Finland summoned Russian ambassador to a violation of its airspace – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
The Foreign Ministry summoned the Moscow ambassador after Helsinki claims that Russian fighters were illegally entry into Finland’s airspace, according to Mehr News Agency.
The Finnish Yle Network reported that Russian ambassador to Finland has been summoned to the State Department for official explanations.
Helsinki officials have claimed that two Russian fighters arrived at Finland’s airspace near the city of Porvo in the Gulf of Finland. This is the first time since February this year.
“We are taking the suspicious violation of airspace seriously and investigations are underway,” said Finnish Defense Minister Anti -Hakannin.
Hakanan also added that the goal of Russia’s military presence in the Baltic has changed and was focused on protecting the “ghostly fleet” (Moscow’s alleged tankers to circumvent sanctions).
He added: “There is no instant threat to Finland, but it is obvious that Russia is strengthening its military capabilities and is still an aggressive and dangerous neighbor for all Europe!”
Finland and Russia have one and a half kilometers in common. Helsinki joined NATO in the year after the start of the Ukrainian war.
