Pasinian is willing to change the constitution for peace with Azerbaijan

The Armenian prime minister said that if the constitution does not approve the peace agreeme with the Republic of Azerbaijan, it will personally make changes to the constitution.
Armenian media reported that Armenian Prime Minister Nicole Pashinian said during the Yerevan Iernational Dialogue: “We must submit an agreeme to the Constitutional Court. There is no choice. “
“If the constitutional court decides that this agreeme does not comply with the laws of Armenia, my personal stance is that I will begin changes in the constitution, because I believe that the opportunity to conclude peace should not be lost,” Pashinian added.
In September, the Republic of Azerbaijan began electricity operations in the disputed area of Karabakh, which ended in less than four hours with the surrender of Armenian forces and complete corol of Baku. The operation was a turning poi in the long -standing conflict between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia over years after years of tension and several bloody clashes, especially the 6 -day war. After this transformation, talks and consultations began with the mediation of iernational actors to reach a comprehensive peace agreeme.
Despite progress in the negotiations, there are obstacles to the final signature of the agreeme. One of the main challenges is the provisions of the Armenian Constitution, which, from Baku’s view, coains territorial references to the Azerbaijani territory, especially the Gharabagh region. Azerbaijani officials emphasize that it will not be possible to sign a peace agreeme uil Armenia fails to make the necessary reforms.
In corast, Armenia has similar positions, and some sections of the constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan are corary to their territorial iegrity. These same legal and symbolic differences in the basic texts of the two couries have slowed the process of achieving sustainable peace and have made the final agreeme yet signed. However, both sides at the formal level emphasize their desire for peace, and consultations coinue.
