The United States lifted Syrian sanctions for five days/ Damascus welcomed

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Saturday that his coury had graed Syria to Syria a six -day exemption under Caesar’s law to increase investme and cash flow.

Rubio said the exemption from Caesar’s sanctions is “the first step in realizing US Preside Donald Trump’s view of a new relationship with Syria.”

“Syria’s exemption from sanctions facilitates fundameal services and reconstruction, because we support the people’s efforts to build a brighter future,” he said.

Rubio added: “Syria’s exemption from sanctions guaraees that our partners’ ability to invest will not hinder and facilitate electricity, energy, water and wastewater.”

He also noted that Trump expects Syria to take quick steps in the fields of policy in response to the reduction of sanctions.

Rubio said the reduction of sanctions is crucial to the progress of Syria and makes the humanitarian response more effective throughout the coury.

US Treasury: Lifting sanctions against Syria allows new investmes

In the same vein, the US Treasury Departme today – Wednesday – announced the “reduction of sanctions against Syria” and noted that the move was carried out in the implemeation of US Preside Donald Trump’s decision.

The US Treasury said in a stateme that “the lifting of sanctions on Syria will allow new investmes and private sector activities.”

The ministry added that “he will work with the State Departme to impleme instructions to encourage new investmes in Syria.”

The ministry also emphasized that “the lifting of sanctions against Syria does not include perpetrators of human rights and war crimes as well as the former system”, adding that the sanctions were “reconstruction of the economy, financial sector and infrastructure”.

The US Treasury coinued to support all transactions with the new Syrian governme, poiing out that the State Departme would issue exemptions under the Caesar Act that enables Washington’s partners and allies to ieract with Syria.

Damascus welcomed the decision

The Syrian Foreign Ministry also welcomed the US governme’s decision to lift sanctions against Syria and its people for years.

The ministry described the lifting of US sanctions as a step towards reducing human and economic suffering, stressing that Syria extends its hands to all those who wish to cooperate on mutual respect.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry said that dialogue and diplomacy is the best way to build balanced relations that provide the ierests of the people, poiing out that the next phase will be to rebuild and restore the natural situation of Syria in the region and the world.

Donald Trump had previously announced in Saudi Arabia that all US sanctions on Syria would be lifted after more than four decades of severe economic and political restrictions.

The White House announced that Trump had been informed of the US need to preve ISIL from re -revising ISIL during a meeting with Ahmad al -Shar, the head of Tahrir al -Sham and the ierim head of the Syrian ierim governme in Saudi Arabia.

Kaya Kalas, the High Represeative of Foreign Policy and Security of the European Union, also said that the EU has decided to completely lift its economic sanctions against Syria.
