Calas: EU decided to lift Syria’s sanctions

The EU foreign policy official said the union had decided to completely lift economic sanctions on Syria.
Hours before the News, informed sources announced that the ambassadors of the EU member states had reached a preliminary agreeme on the lifting of Syrian sanctions, and the decision is expected to be officially announced at the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Brussels.
“Today we have decided to lift our economic sanctions against Syria,” the EU foreign policy chief Kaya Kalas wrote on Tuesday evening.
“We wa to help the Syrian people rebuild new, inclusive and peaceful Syria,” Calcis wrote. “The European Union has always been with the Syrian people for the past five years and will coinue.”
Since the beginning of the Syrian Civil War, the European Union and the United States have imposed extensive sanctions on the governme of Bashar al -Assad. The sanctions included blocking assets, banning the export of sensitive equipme and technologies, and economic and financial constrais that caused a widespread livelihood in Syria. With the adve of Ahmad al -Shara as the ierim chief of Syria, the West is looking for an opportunity to re -ieract with Damascus. Europe and the United States are now examining the gradual lifting of economic sanctions so that they can cooperate with the new governme, increase their influence and pave the way for Syria’s stability and reconstruction.
