Russia banned the “amnesty iernational” activity

The Russian prosecutor general called Amnesty Iernational a “undesirable organization” and announced that its activity on Russian territory has been banned. The decision came after Russian authorities accused the human rights group of bias from Ukraine and the military conflict.
According to RCO News Agency, the Russian Prosecutor’s Office announced today (Monday) that the London Office of Amnesty Iernational has been banned in the coury and has been named as “undesirable organization”. The reason for this decision is the alleged support of this human rights institution in Ukraine in the war against Russia.
Amnesty Iernational, founded in London in 2008 and its headquarters in London, is recognized as a global defense of human rights and support for prisoners, according to Reuters.
The Russian General Prosecutor’s Office claimed that the London office has become the “Ceer for Designing of the Russian World Projects” and defends Ukraine’s ierests.
“The organization has made every effort to iensify military conflict in the region,” the stateme said. “They justify the crimes of the Ukrainian neo -Naza, call for increased financial support, and insist on the political and economic isolation of our coury.”
Russian officials have always accused the Ukrainian governme of influencing the Neonazis; The claim has been rejected by Ukraine, Western couries and many iernational observers as baseless propaganda.
Amnesty Iernational has not yet responded to Reuters’ request to comme.
In rece years, the Russian governme has listed organizations that threaten its national security in itself on the list of “undesirable organizations”. According to Russian law, cooperation with such institutions can have up to five years in prison for Russian citizens.
