Witcaf: Iran’s enrichment is red line for us

According to RCO News Agency, the White House’s Special Envoy Steve Witakaf, who played a key role in Tehran-Washington’s indirect talks, Ukraine talks and indirect talks with Hamas on ceasefire and exchanges, in an interview in response to a general plan for US Donald Trump. He wants to solve this problem in a diplomatic way.

“He (Trump) has shown all the signals.” He has sent letters directly to the Supreme Leader of Iran. I was also sent to convey this message and I had delivered it.

“On the other hand, we have a clear red line that is enrichment,” the White House special envoy said. We can’t even allow one percent of enrichment capacity. We offer a category to Iranians that we think without disrespecting them deals with parts of this issue. Therefore, this is important. We want to get a solution in this regard and think we can.

“But everything from our point of view begins with an agreement that does not include enrichment,” he said. We cannot do so because enrichment allows for weapons. We do not allow a bomb here.

“But there are many ways to achieve our goals in these negotiations,” Witcaf said. In our opinion, we will meet in Europe this week. We hope that it will lead to real positive results.

Iran and the United States have so far conducted four rounds of indirect talks with Oman’s mediation to address the issue of Iran’s nuclear program. The parties generally evaluated the process of these negotiations well and said that useful ideas were discussed during the conversations and that the negotiations were out of the general.

Iranian officials have emphasized that Iran’s possession of peaceful nuclear energy and the right to enrich Iran is not negotiating, and that Iran will strongly defend its peaceful nuclear program against any aggressive action.

In the meantime, US officials, especially after the third round of negotiations, claimed that Iran, as the only nuclear country without a nuclear weapon, has no right to enrich the nuclear weapons, and that if it wants to use nuclear energy, it could import the fuel needed by its reactors from a third country.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei had earlier said that the debate is very clear and should not be complicated. In practice, we exercise our right. The issue of the official stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran is based on Article 2 of the Treaty of non -spread. It is the right of the member states, where there is also the issue of fuel and enrichment.

He emphasized: Iran’s nuclear program is fully supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors. They are observing on a daily basis, no deviation from the peaceful nature. Our determination to keep our nuclear program peacefully has already been proven, and in the future there is no plan to avoid this principled position. So I think the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran can really be brighter than that.
