France’s insistence on limiting social networks for people under the age of 5
The French government intends to ban people under the age of 5 unless they can provide a valid evidence of their age.
According to RCO News Agency, Clara Shapaz, the Minister of Digital (Digital) in France, is leading the initiative to strengthen the rules of platforms and create a European front.
The purpose of this process is to impose strict restrictions on age on social networks and similar to the restrictions imposed on pornographic sites.
If no European agreement is reached until the start of the new school year (September 1), France can act alone and sanction platforms that do not respect these laws.
The move is in the wake of increasing concerns about the impacts of display and social networks on young people, especially in terms of mental health and cyber harassment.
Some of the recent statistics on the impact of the screen and social networks on the youth cited in the reports of the National Institute of Statistical Studies are as follows:
“Problems of Social Media: According to the World Health Organization, the ratio of adolescents who show the symptoms of addiction to social media has increased from 2 % to 2 % in year 2.
Sleep Disorders: In year 2, 5 % of Internet users aged 5 to 5 announced that the use of the screen has reduced their sleep time, and this effect on people under the age of 5 was more than 5 percent.
Cyber Instillation: A study by the French National Assembly shows that prolonged exposure to the shows is associated with increased anxiety and depression disorders among young people.
“Digital games: 2 % of teens are at risk for problematic games and boys are more affected by girls (1 % vs. 2 %).”
