Zelnsky also met with the Italian Prime Minister
After the funeral of Pope Francis in the Vatican, the Ukrainian President met with the Italian Prime Minister in addition to other world leaders.
Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelnsky, who traveled to the Vatican to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, who died last week at the age of nine, held bilateral meetings with several world leaders.
According to Euronews, the Ukrainian president met with Italian Prime Minister Georgia Melony at his presidency in Rome and their meeting apparently lasted less than an hour.
A statement issued by the Italian Prime Minister Palace said: “The parties emphasized their support for US President Donald Trump’s efforts to achieve sustainable and just peace; “Peace that can guarantee the security, sovereignty and freedom of Ukraine.”
In his remarks, Meloni emphasized the urgent and unconditional ceasefire as well as a tangible commitment by Moscow.
“We welcome Ukraine’s complete readiness for immediate ceasefire, and Russia is expected to tangible its will to pursue peace,” he said.
Earlier, the Italian newspaper La Ripoblica reported on Friday that Kiev is pressuring Rome to hold a small meeting on the Ukrainian war on the sidelines of Pope Francis.
“The government of Georgia Melony is hesitant to hold a multilateral meeting on Ukraine because he fears that such a plan will harm his country’s fame and the result is likely to predict its failure,” the Italian media added.
