Ayatollah Sistani’s office issued a stateme on the occasion of Pope Francis’ death, according to Mehr News Agency.
“We received the news of the death of Pope Francis Pope of the Vatican, who had a spiritual place to many people in the world,” said the stateme.
The stateme refers to the historical meeting of Pope Francis with the supreme religious authority in Najaf Ashraf: The historical meeting that brought Pope Francis together with the highest religious status in Najaf was of great importance to emphasizing the parties to the esseial role of faith.
The Bureau of High Religious Reference emphasized the need for collective effort to enhance the culture of peaceful coexistence and to avoid violence and hatred and to consolidate the values of the people based on the care and respect for the followers of religions and various iellectual tendencies.
The office of Ayatollah Sistani announced that the supreme religious authority, while condoling this painful loss to Catholic Christians, called for patience for them and the mercy of them and blessings and peace for them and all humanity.
