The new peace mission; Trump is again sending his messenger to Moscow
Following the announceme of a temporary ceasefire in the Ukrainian war on the occasion of Easter, the US media reported that the Trump administration plans to send a reflection to Russia again.
US Preside Donald Trump’s administration is planning to hold another meeting between Steve Witekaf, his own special envoy and high -ranking Russian officials, to bring Moscow to his view of peace in the Ukrainian crisis, ISNA reported.
Witcaf has previously met with Russian Preside Vladimir Putin three times this year, while the US preside has been trying to mediate the ceasefire between Kiev and Moscow.
CNN quoted the same source as saying in a report on Saturday that the Washington plan, apparely preseed to Ukrainian officials and several European leaders at a high -level meeting in Paris on Thursday, calls for a ceasefire along the curre fro line.
The US governme has also apparely shown its desire to recognize the Crimean Peninsula as part of Russian territory.
In an ierview with Fox News on Monday, Witcaf said about his meeting with Putin in Moscow last Friday, saying that the talks were “convincing” about five hours and the Kremlin is looking for a sustainable solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
Trump’s special represeative also claimed that Moscow and Kiev “may be on the verge of an eve that is very importa for the whole world.”
According to the US official, any possible peace agreeme will include the recognition of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk and the Karson and Zapurigia areas as part of Russian territory.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday that “there is no clear framework for any agreeme,” Moscow considers “constructive and coe” coacts to the United States valuable.
Witcaf’s remarks were met with a negative reaction from Ukrainian Preside Walodimir Zelksky, who on Thursday accused Trump’s represeative of “being consciously or unconsciously promoting Russian narratives”.
He once again emphasized that Kiev “will never recognize any part of the territory of Ukraine that is temporarily occupied as Russian soil.”
Russia has always stated that it is esseially prepared for peace talks with Ukraine, provided that its main security concerns are considered. One of the demands of Moscow is that Kiev refuses his desire to join NATO and recognize the “territorial realities in the field”.
The Kremlin has emphasized that it will not only satisfy the temporary suspension of the conflict.
On Saturday, Vladimir Putin announced that a temporary ceasefire will be open on Easter from 9pm to midnight on Sunday. He also expressed hope for Ukraine’s mutual response, and also stated that “the Kiev regime has violated an agreeme to stop attacks on energy infrastructure more than a hundred times.”
Putin said that Ukraine’s reaction to the ceasefire would be a clear sign of Kiev’s seriousness in achieving peace. On the other hand, the Ukrainian preside reacted by announcing that Ukrainian forces were coinuing to operate in Korsk and accepted Putin’s temporary ceasefire proposal.
