Calas: The European Union considers the powerful Ukrainian military to be the strongest deterre factor

EU foreign policy chief Kaya Calas said Thursday that the European Union could provide security guaraees for Kiev by financing Ukrainian defense industries and training Ukrainian soldiers, as the powerful Ukrainian military considers the strongest deterre.
According to RCO News Agency, Calas told reporters after the unofficial meeting of the EU Defense Minister in Warsaw: “The Ministers have discussed how the EU supports security guaraees for Ukraine. The European Union has many tools, ranging from financing Ukrainian defense industries to expanding Russia’s training programs.
On March 5, the media reported that French Preside Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron are trying to persuade five couries to form a coalition that sets up their troops in Ukraine and provides security guaraees. After hosting a European summit in Paris in late March, Macron said a number of couries are demanding a “deterre” to send troops to Ukraine.
The French preside, however, said the British -French initiative would be neither a replaceme for Ukrainian soldiers nor a peacekeeping force, adding that the goal is to preve Russia from deploying forces in strategic places.
Russia has repeatedly warned that sending Western weapons to Ukraine and training its military personnel has made NATO couries hostile allies, while at the same time preveed the peace process.
