Researchers need access to iernational scieific sites to find out the latest scieific achievemes in other scieific ceers around the world, and universities must provide access to these bases by purchasing subscription.
Academics had been cut off for years due to accumulated debt to iernational scieific bases, and researchers used informal methods to access world articles.
It was in August this year that much of the accumulated debt of universities was paid to iernational scieific bases with the pursuit of the Irandak Institute and the Ministry of Science, and after five years of access to universities and institutions under the Ministry of Science, some iernational scieific sites, including Squopus and Scopus, were possible.
The right to subscribe to access to the “one -year” scieific bases is needed to preve the creation of accumulated debt and maiain access to these bases, but universities pay each year, but given the increase in the exchange rate and the financial problems of the universities in rece years, Some officials emphasized the need to create a ceralized budget line to provide access to iernational scieific bases.
The budget examination of the year indicates that for the coming year there is a budget line to fund iernational databases.
Dr. Mohammad Hassanzadeh; The head of the Iranian Institute of Information Science and Technology (Irandak) and the head of the National Scieific Resources Council in a conversation with Mehr reporter about allocating independe budget lines to secure scieific base subscription rights said: “Yes, for the first time in the history of Iranian science, this issue has been raised in next year’s budget.”
He added: “So far, this issue has been agreed and next year a separate budget for universities is iended for iernational scieific bases.”
Also Dr. Hossein Nasiri; Speaking to Mehr reporter, the director of the Higher Education, Research and Technology Departme of the Majlis Research Ceer said: “The independe budget line for iernational bases is not explicitly included in the budget, but several budget rows are listed in next year’s budget that allow the Ministry of Science to spend.
He said: “These are included in the” support programs “in the budget tables of the year, and probably the same is considered. The Ministry of Science has also confirmed that this is listed in the budget.
According to Mehr, in rece years; Iran’s rank in publishing iernational articles has declined, and some experts have raised the lack of access to the world’s scieific resources as one of the reasons for the coury’s scieific publication. It is hoped that the coury’s scieific publications will be improved in the coming years by maiaining academics’ access to scieific resources.
