The rece issue of Inorganic Chemistry Magazine, one of the best mineral chemistry journals, is a research article eitled “Water Oxidation in the presence of Iron Hydroxide Copper” by Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Najafpour Research Group Professor of Chemistry of Sharif University of Technology and Chemistry of Mineral Chemistry has been dedicated.
In part of this article; The fission of water molecules using renewable energies and hydrogen production is recognized as one of the promising ways to store energy. This process, especially in order to replace renewable energies with fossil fuels, can accelerate the moveme of wider use of clean energy. However, the fission of water is significaly affected by the water oxidation reaction, which is a complex four electron reaction. For this reason, the developme and ideification of effective catalysts for water oxidation is of particular importance. This reaction plays a key role in a variety of areas such as energy production, solid state chemistry, mineral chemistry, electrochemical, artificial photosyhesis, photocatalysts and electroxata and many other research. Copper oxide compounds, if added to them with small amous of iron ion, are the best known catalysts for water oxidation in alkaline environmes. These compounds have been iroduced as ideal materials in this area because of their high stability and low price.
In this study, the electron-iron-oxide compound structures and properties were studied under various methods such as X-ray analysis, Raman spectroscopy and many other techniques. The results of this study can lead to a better understanding of the role of iron in water catalysts. In addition to providing new insights on water oxidation mechanisms in copper-iron compounds, this study also shows new paths to optimize catalysts based on these compounds.
It is worth meioning that this study was carried out by Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Najafpour, a professor at Sharif University of Technology and Mohammad Saleh Ali Akbari, his doctoral stude at Zanjan University in collaboration with promine researchers from South Korea and Poland, and in one of the best mineral chemistry magazines (Inorganic Chemistry). The American Chemical Society of the American Chemical Society is pried and selected as a cover design.
It should be noted that recely a review article has been published in a prestigious journal Coordination Chemistry Review (see here) with the coefficie of impact in collaboration with scieists from Russia, New Zealand, Japan, Germany and Finland in the field of water oxidation.
