Damascus: If our ierests are preserved, Russian activity in its bases is permitted

The Syrian defense minister said Damascus is ready to negotiate access to Russia’s bases in the coury if it is preserved.
According to RCO News Agency, Syrian Defense Minister Maraf Abu Ghassas said it was ready to allow Russia to use military bases on the Mediterranean coast, but only if an agreeme is reached to protect the ierests of Syria.
The media had earlier reported that new Syrian officials had canceled an agreeme that had transferred corol of the port of Tartus to Russia. However, Syrian officials have explained that they currely have no plans to cancel the agreemes about the presence of Russian troops in Latakia and Tartus.
