Lukashenko: We don’t wa Trump-style elections

Referring to the rece US elections and the attempt to assassinate the preside-elect of the coury, the Preside of Belarus said that Belarus should not allow its coury’s presideial elections to turn io a “tumultuous show” like what happened in the United States.
According to RCO News Agency, the Ceral Election Commission of Belarus recely announced that “Alexander Lukashenko”, the curre preside of Belarus, has registered as a candidate for the upcoming presideial elections in this coury. The elections will be held on January 26 (Bahman 7).
According to the report of Rasha Today, the Preside of Belarus said during a speech at the governme meeting: “The upcoming elections in Belarus should be a celebration.” “We don’t wa a riotous show like the one in the United States.”
He added: “We don’t wa an election in the style of America and Trump (Preside-elect) in which someone is shot in the ear or head.” “We wa the Belarusian presideial election to be held gloriously, so we must avoid unnecessary criticism.”
Lukashenko refers to the failed assassination of US Preside-elect Donald Trump during an election campaign in Pennsylvania in July 2024, during which the Preside-elect’s ear was targeted and injured. He was also the target of another failed assassination attempt in September 2024 on his golf course in Florida, again surviving.
Lukashenko, who has ruled Belarus undisputedly since 1994, has called on the leaders of an apparely Western-backed opposition party to return to Belarus and participate in elections. In this regard, he added: “You should return to your coury and participate in voting and elections.” “The people here have to decide.”
Presideial terms in Belarus are 5 years, but in 2004 Lukashenko was able to abolish term limits by changing the constitution, thus allowing him to coinue his presidency for more terms.
