He also emphasized that in the past, the European Union market was a money market for Belarus and it was easier to deliver goods in this market, but “now Belarus’ cooperation with China, Iran, Russia and the couries of the Commonwealth of Independe States is developing.”
“Today, the main stream of business goes there,” Riznekov explained. But the most ieresting thing is that as trade with these regions has multiplied, our trade with individual EU couries has not decreased so much. “The business still finds opportunities to deliver even in these circumstances.”
He added: “The customs services of the European Union are passing the trucks at the border with a much lower volume than usual, thus creating artificial barriers.”
Belarus’ relations with Western couries have deteriorated sharply after the 2020 presideial election. Western couries have gradually imposed sanctions against Belarusian officials, companies and industries. The new stage of expansion of Western sanctions against Belarus occurred due to Minsk’s support for Russia’s special military operations in Ukraine.
