The US preside-elect threatened BRICS member couries with a “100% tariff” against them.
According to Isna, the US Preside-elect Donald Trump threatened the BRICS couries on Saturday evening on the social network “Truth Social” that he will impose tariffs on them if they create an alternative to the dollar.
He threatened the BRICS couries that if they do not stop the plan to create an alternative currency to the dollar, he will impose a “100% tariff” on them.
“We urge these couries not to create a new BRICS currency or support another currency to replace the mighty US dollar or they will face 100% tariffs,” Trump wrote.
He added: “If the dollar is abandoned as the currency of their accou, in addition to the tariff, trade with the United States will also be limited for these couries.”
In the end, Trump claimed: “It is impossible to replace the dollar with BRICS in world trade, and any coury that seeks to replace the dollar should say goodbye to the United States.”
BRICS is an association between couries that was established in 2006. In addition to Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, UAE and Saudi Arabia have joined this group since the beginning of 2024.
