Russia accused London of using the grain corridor to supply weapons to Ukraine
Russia accused Britain of using the Black Sea grain corridor to send weapons to Ukraine. The accusation came after Russia denied London’s claim that Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports had disrupted vital grain supplies elsewhere.
According to RCO News Agency, British Prime Minister Kerr Starmer said last week that the increase in Russian attacks on the Black Sea ports of Ukraine has delayed the arrival of esseial aid to the Palestinians and preveed the delivery of vital grains to the couries of the southern world.
Russian attacks on Ukraine’s Black Sea ports since September 1 have damaged six civilian ships and grain infrastructure, the United Nations said last week, calling the increase “alarming.”
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that Starmer’s claim that Moscow is harming global food security with these attacks is far from the truth.
He said in a press conference: “Such baseless but coroversial protests from London prove the opposite once again; “Britain’s direct involveme in supplying weapons to the Kiev regime through the Black Sea Corridor.”
Zakharova poied to what she said was rece video evidence of the port of Yezhny in Ukraine’s Odesa region and the alleged arms shipme, released by the Russian Defense Ministry.
Reuters did not independely confirm the video, and there was no immediate response from London.
Ukraine is one of the world’s largest producers of wheat and corn, and before the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022, it exported about six million tons of grain per moh via the Black Sea. Ukraine created a Black Sea shipping corridor after the collapse of the Black Sea Grain Export Plan, which last year was backed by the United Nations and supported by Russia to ensure the safe passage of grain ships.
