New research shows that the conditions for the existence of life may be prese under the surface of Mars. Scieists believe that under the ice and soil layers of Mars, especially in the middle regions, there is a suitable environme for photosyhesis.
According to Tekna Technology Media Astronomy News Service, photosyhesis is a process in which plas, algae and some bacteria produce food and release oxygen using sunlight, water and carbon dioxide. This process is very importa for life on earth. New studies show that thick layers of ice on Mars can act like a filter, preveing the sun’s harmful rays from penetrating below the surface. At the same time, enough light to carry out photosyhesis can pass through these ice layers. In other words, conditions similar to a natural greenhouse are created under the surface of Mars.
Scieists believe that the middle regions of Mars are the best places to look for traces of life. In these areas, layers of ice and soil are placed in such a way that there is a possibility of liquid water under the surface. Also, the right amou of sunlight reaches these areas. Previous studies have shown that in the dista past, liquid water flowed on the surface of Mars. Evidence such as the dry beds of lakes and rivers indicate the existence of abunda water in the past of Mars. Also, space probes have confirmed the existence of water ice in the poles of Mars and some other regions.
This new discovery has raised hopes of finding life on Mars. If we can prove that there are conditions for life under the surface of Mars, this discovery will be one of the greatest scieific achievemes of the ceury. Scieists are planning to do more research in this field. They plan to use advanced tools to investigate the subsurface of Mars more closely and look for evidence of life.
