Putin awarded Lukashenko the highest Russian award
After meeting with Alexander Lukashenko on the sidelines of the Summit of the Heads of Independe Cooperative couries in Moscow, the Preside of Russia awarded the highest medal of his coury to the Preside of Belarus.

According to the video released from the ceremony, Putin placed the medal on Lukashenko’s shoulders, and then both leaders shook hands and hugged each other.
On August 30, Putin signed the decree to award this medal to Lukashenko at the same time as his 70th birthday.
In this ruling, he stated that he is awarding this medal due to his outstanding achievemes in the field of developing strategic partnership and relations and unity of the two couries and strengthening friendship between their brother nations and personal participation in the effective functioning of the “Union State” of Russia and Belarus.
The “Union State” of Russia and Belarus was established on April 2, 1992 with the aim of achieving political, military, economic and social iegration between the two couries.
Putin and Lukashenko held their talks before this ceremony.
Lukashenko said during the meeting: “The West has designed a plan to strangle us (referring to Belarus and Russia), first of all in economy and finance, but they have already admitted it.”
Lukashenko noted: “The couries that emerged from the collapse of the Soviet Union took the approach of keeping what they had, which was beneficial. Today we work together in many fields and produce goods that are in demand in the Russian Federation. Russia needs the goods we produce. From agriculture to microelectronics.
Russian Preside Vladimir Putin, for his part, emphasized that Russia and Belarus have the opportunity to compleme each other in industrial projects, including in the field of aviation.
Expressing satisfaction with the developme of economic and trade relations between the two couries of the Russian Federation and Belarus, Putin said: “I would like to poi out that our trade and economic relations are developing in the best possible way and at a good speed.”
The Kremlin press office reported that during the talks, the two sides will discuss the developme of Russia-Belarus relations, focusing on complemeary ieractions within the Union state between Russia and Belarus. After this meeting, the official ceremony of awarding the highest state award in the Russian Federation to the Preside of Belarus was held.
The Sai Andrew I medal is usually awarded to promine governme figures, military commanders, promine represeatives of science, culture, art, and various sectors of the economy for exceptional services coributing to Russia’s prosperity, greatness, and glory.
