The head of Tehran City Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are against the return of food vendors to Ctir Street.
Meanwhile, Tehran Municipality has announced the return of deli stalls to C-Tir, while the head of the city council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are against this.
For many years, the deli stalls on Si-Tir Street had created many problems for the National Museum, the hospital near the street, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the resides of Si-Tir, and despite the many criticisms and problems of this plan, Tehran Municipality developed it on several occasions.
At the end of last year, after several years of harmful activity of these stalls, the municipality finally acknowledged the damage and dangers of these stalls’ activities next to the coury’s most importa museum and proceeded to dismale and organize it. Initially, the stalls with a new design were supposed to start their activities from the beginning of 1403, but with the return of more than six mohs from this date, it seemed that the case of this food stall on this street was closed forever. However, the authorities of Tehran municipality recely announced that these stalls will soon return to Ctir Street.
This plan has created many problems besides disrupting the order of the City Tire Street. Fats from the activity of this stall are still visible on C. Tir Street after they have been collected. The fats that go directly to the throat along with the smoke of the food. History of this in the National Museum. This time, Tehran Municipality has promised that the number of stalls will be less compared to the previous period and efforts have been made to ensure that their pollution, crowding and noise does not disturb the nearby buildings such as the hospital, the National Museum and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, according to published information, the number of stalls that were supposed to be reduced to 20 has increased again and now there are 30 stalls. This incide shows that other promises of Tehran Municipality in corolling the problems of this plan may be as true as the promise of reducing the number of stalls.
The head of the council disagrees
Chamran, the head of Tehran City Council, has a history of opposing these stalls. The beginning of this project happened a few years ago during Chamran’s previous presidency of Tehran City Council. The head of the Tehran city council at that time also objected to this plan and addressed his criticisms to the officials and the then mayor of the 12th district of Tehran. One of the excuses for deli stalls to return to City Tire is to launch cultural activities and sell handicrafts. A title that has already been an excuse for the activity of this smoke and grease line, and now, while there is only one sign left from the passage of handicrafts on Villa street, the sale of handicrafts is an excuse for the return of barbecue grills and crickets to C-Tire.
Recely, after the plan to return the food vendors to C-Tir was published in the media, Mehdi Chamran made his opposition public again and told ISNA:
We saw on the radio that it was said that food vendors are going to return to 30 Tir Street. I called and they said that handicrafts are going to be offered; Isn’t there a way for street handicrafts to be dedicated to the supply of handicrafts on 30 Tir Street, which was emptied of food vendors? What is the capacity of a narrow and crowded street to sell deli and sell handicrafts? Maybe one day carpets, rugs, flowers and plas will be sold. It is not true that the streets of Tehran are misused.
This time, Chamran addressed his protest to the Municipality of Region 12 and said:
If a street is to be blocked and they do something, it should be approved by the official authority, not a manager making a decision for himself and doing something. Once the mayor of District 12 made a decision and the condition of 30 Tir Street was destroyed and today they wa to destroy it again, while we have a comprehensive and detailed plan and it should be discussed, expertized and investigated.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs protests, the National Museum is sleeping!
Three importa governme institutions and a hospital are located in the neighborhood of this project. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which itself is the cause of the narrowing of the historical ceer of Mashakh Square, is seriously against the return of these stalls. The hospital authorities have been protesting this situation for years, but there was no listening ear for them, and in the end, the National Museum, which should be the most importa oppone of the re-establishme of these stalls, turned a blind eye to this plan, just like last time.
Mehdi Pirhadi, the head of the Health Commission of Tehran City Council revealed the reason for Chamran’s opposition and said:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also objected to this issue; The opinion of this ministry should be obtained regarding the issue; Because the high-ranking political officials of the couries travel on this street and it is importa for us to get the opinion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Without the opinion of the diplomatic system, it is not possible to set up a complex in the vicinity of the diplomatic ceer of the coury, which is opposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; The opinion of Mr. Chamran, the head of the council, also arose from the same protest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The head of the Health Commission of Tehran City Council emphasizes: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also raised objections regarding this issue. Therefore, the opinion of this ministry should be obtained regarding the issue; Because the high-ranking political officials of the couries travel on this street and it is importa for us to get the opinion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Without the opinion of the diplomatic system, it is not possible to set up a complex in the vicinity of the diplomatic ceer of the coury, which is opposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; According to Mr. Chamran, the presidency of the council also arose from the same protest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Although it seems that the opposition will preve food vendors from returning to C-Tir, but a look at the history of Tehran Municipality in implemeing its demands regardless of criticisms and protests shows that C-Tir’s historical street may soon host the smoke and fat of barbecue grills again.
