Blinken’s support for a “durable and dignified” peace between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan

The US State Departme announced in a stateme that in a telephone conversation with Nikol Pashinyan, the coury’s foreign minister reiterated the “importance of stable and dignified peace” between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to Isna, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and US Secretary of State Ahony Blinken had a phone call on Friday. Armenian Press Agency wrote that during this telephone conversation, the parties discussed issues related to the peace process between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and the agenda of Yerevan-Washington bilateral relations.
Following this telephone conversation, the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a stateme in this regard. The US State Departme wrote in this stateme: “Blinken reiterated the importance of a lasting and dignified peace between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
The stateme coinued: “Secretary of State Blinken welcomed the rece progress made between the parties, including their agreeme on border border adjustmes. Blinken and Pashinian discussed the expanding US-Armenia relationship, including cooperation in energy, trade, investme, and education. The Secretary of State emphasized the commitme of the United States to ongoing efforts to support a successful, democratic and independe Armenia that will benefit the Armenian people and the eire Caucasus region.
The Prime Minister of Armenia also held a meeting on Friday with Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alesky Overchuk.
The Prime Minister’s Office of Armenia announced in a stateme: “In this meeting, issues related to bilateral relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation were discussed. They also discussed issues related to partnership within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.
In July, Blinken hosted talks between Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and his couerpart from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeihun Bayramov, in Washington on the sidelines of the NATO summit on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishme of this organization.
After these negotiations, the foreign ministers of the two couries committed to coinue the talks for the final peace agreeme by issuing a stateme.
Blinken and the US State Departme have pressed Yerevan and Baku to quickly sign a peace accord, saying in June that the US expected Armenia and Azerbaijan to make “hard compromises” to finally sign a peace agreeme between the two couries.
