Ryabkov: Russia’s nuclear doctrine changes based on Western actions
Russia emphasized on changing the coury’s nuclear doctrine based on the analysis of conflicts and actions of the West.
According to RCO News Agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an ierview that Moscow will change its nuclear doctrine based on the analysis of rece conflicts and the actions of the West regarding its “special military operations” (in Ukraine).
In an ierview with Tass News agency, Ryabkov said: “As we have said many times before, things are at an advanced stage and there is a clear ieion to revise (the Russian nuclear doctrine) based on the analysis and review of developmes related to rece conflicts.” And, of course, the analysis of the procedure of the western competitors to iensify the tensions regarding the special military operations of the Russian army in Ukraine should be iroduced.”
He explained that the docume related to this amendme is being finalized but it is still too early to talk about a specific time frame for the completion of this docume.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia noted: “Providing a time frame for the completion of this reform is rather complicated, and it should be taken io accou that we are talking about the most importa aspect of our national security.”
Russian Preside Vladimir Putin had previously announced that the coury’s nuclear doctrine is a dynamic and living docume that can be modified and changed if necessary. The Russian preside also emphasized that Moscow’s assumption is that a nuclear conflict will never happen.
Ryabkov said the actions of the West require Russia’s nuclear doctrine to be updated in line with curre requiremes. According to this high-ranking Russian diplomat, the actions of the United States and its allies have seriously aggravated the situation in the field of foreign policy, and Moscow is constaly analyzing the documes related to Russia’s nuclear deterrence to meet these challenges.
According to the coury’s 2020 nuclear doctrine, Russia may use nuclear weapons or other types of weapons of mass destruction against Russia or its allies if an adversary receives verified information about the launch of a nuclear weapon to attack Russia or its allies. take action against the facilities necessary for a nuclear response and resort to nuclear weapons if an attack with conveional weapons threatens the existence of the coury.
