Grossi goes to the Kursk nuclear power pla

Rafael Grossi, the director general of the Iernational Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), plans to visit the Kursk nuclear power pla and its satellite city “Kurchatov” on Tuesday to personally assess the situation in the region.
According to Isna, Russian Preside Vladimir Putin said earlier that the armed forces of Ukraine tried to attack the Kursk nuclear power pla on the night of August 22 and 23. Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, also noted that Russia is in close coact with the Iernational Atomic Energy Agency Secretariat regarding the Kiev regime’s provocations against the Zaporizhia and Kursk power plas.
Grossi said in a stateme: “Given the critical situation in the region, I personally lead the mission of the Iernational Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the Kursk Nuclear Power Pla (KNPP) in the Russian Federation.”
According to Sputnik, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permane represeative to iernational organizations in Vienna, stated that Grossi will visit the Kursk power pla and the city of Kurchatov.
“Since the new developmes and the increased level of military activity in the vicinity of the Kursk nuclear power pla, I have closely followed the developmes, especially in relation to this pla,” Grossi said in his stateme.
According to him, the agency iends to conduct an independe assessme of the condition of this facility and discuss possible further measures to assess the nuclear safety and protection of the Kursk nuclear power pla.
He also asked the involved parties to observe the seven pillars of nuclear safety in relation to the Kursk nuclear power pla, as well as the five specific principles that were previously developed for the protection of the Zaporizhia power pla, and not to jeopardize nuclear safety under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, the situation at the Zaporizhia power pla is still tense. This power pla and its satellite city are regularly shelled by Ukrainian armed forces drones. As a result of a shelling in August, a fire broke out in the cooling towers of the power pla. However, the fire did not affect the operation of this power pla.
Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Army, said that at 5:30 a.m. on August 6, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an offensive to seize territory in the Kursk region, but their advance was halted. He emphasized: the operation in the Kursk region will be completed with the defeat of the enemy and reaching the governme borders.
