Google plans to collaborate with a non-profit organization called EDF to create a map of methane leaks. This cooperation will be done through Google's artificial ielligence.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, while carbon dioxide is always talked about as the main cause of air pollution and global warming, methane is responsible for about 30% of the increase in temperature. For this reason, Google plans to cooperate with a non-profit fund in defense of the environme and use artificial ielligence to produce a map of this gas leak.
According to the report published in this case, Google in collaboration with EDF is preparing a map of methane pollution in the world on related oil and gas infrastructure. These two companies hope that by using this map, the main sources of methane leakage can be ideified and for Preve further coamination.
The nonprofit will launch a satellite called MethaneSAT in the coming mohs to track methane gas. After that, Google's artificial ielligence prepared a map of oil and gas infrastructure, and thus it is possible to ideify the sources of pollution in the world.
Yair Maguire, senior vice preside and general manager of the Geo Sustainability team at Google, says: Due to the rapid changes in infrastructure, keeping the map updated in this area can be very effective and requires consta input. Of course, this issue is in our expertise, such information will be very valuable for energy companies, researchers and even the governme sector. Because by using maps, methane emission from differe sources can be predicted and reduced. This satellite is supposed to orbit the earth 15 times every day and use its instrumes to monitor the main oil and gas producing areas and methane emissions by them.
