Donald Trump, the candidate for the presidency of the United States and former preside of the coury, said during a campaign speech yesterday that if he wins the election, he will “never” allow the Federal Reserve to issue a ceral bank digital currency (CBDC) in the coury. create
Trump said:
Tonight I make another promise to protect Americans from governme tyranny. I will never allow the creation of a ceral bank digital currency.
These statemes met with strong applause from the people, to which Trump said in response:
I didn't know you knew so much… so smart people!
And then explained:
Such a currency would give a federal governme, our federal governme, absolute corol over your money… they could take your money, and you wouldn't even know it was gone… that would be a dangerous threat to liberty and I will preve it. did
The election of the 60th four-year presideial term of the United States will be held on November 5, 2024.
In 2023, Ron DeSais, another presideial candidate and governor of Florida, made a similar promise, saying he would say “no” to ceral bank digital currency on his first day in office.
As you know, CBDCs are a digital or tokenized version of cash that is issued and regulated by ceral banks and may or may not use blockchain as an underlying technology.
While there are currely no proposals from the Federal Reserve to iroduce CBDCs, that hasn't stopped it from becoming a hot topic in US politics, especially on the campaign trail.
