Clash of American and Chinese fighter jets near the Korean peninsula – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Yonhap News Agency, American and Chinese warplanes faced each other for a short time this week over the waters near the Korean Peninsula. This is a rare encounter in the region between two superpowers.
About 10 US fighter jets left Pyongtaek Air Base on Wednesday to conduct maneuvers over international waters off South Korea’s west coast, the news agency reported, citing unnamed military sources.
The report states that the US planes did not enter China’s air defense detection zone, but Beijing sent its planes immediately after they approached that zone.
Explaining the incident, the state-run Global Times newspaper reported on Friday, quoting anonymous sources, that the People’s Liberation Army of China has organized naval and air forces to monitor the activities and effectively respond to them during the operation, in accordance with laws and regulations.
